Brightness (Lumens)

2000 lumens
and less - Suitable for small
room with low light. Can you afford to
turn off room light and let people take
note in the dark?

2000 to 3000
lumens - Suitable for most
business conference room and classroom
presentation.

3000 to 4000
lumens - Suitable for large
conference rooms and classrooms. More
flexibility in terms of ambient room
light.

4000 lumens
and up - Suitable large board
rooms, conference rooms, training rooms,
auditoriums with large number of
audience.
To determine how
bright a projector you need, consider the
following factors:

How large is the
audience size? You may be able to get
away with small projector with less than
2000 lumens for small audience in a
small room.

How is the room
condition? Is the room dark enough? Can
you turn off the light or block off sun
light? Does your audience need to take
note? Sometime you have no choice but
have to go with a brighter projector
even for small audience size in a small
room.

What content is
being display? You need some room light
for business presentation and training
with lot of text.
Resolution

SVGA
- Only good for presentations that are
not heavily dependent on detail

XGA
- For business
presentation and training, native XGA
should be you minimum requiremen to
ensures you won't lose any detail.

WXGA
- Best for users
with widescreen laptops that use native
1280x800.

UXGA
- Offers the best resolution with detail
or information intensive.
To determine the
resolution of a projector you need, consider
the following factors:

What is the output
resolution of the notebook PC? Does the
notebook support XGA with 1024x768? UWGA
1280x800? Should you buy a projector
based on your existing notebook?

What is the output
content? Unlike graphic and image, text
require XGA resolution.
Weigh and size
Who is
the projector for? Are you looking for an
ultra portable for frequent traveller? a
portable or a meeting room for office, or a
large conference room projector? It does not
makes sense to go with an ultra portable
projector if the projector is fix in one
room.
Additional consideration include the
following:
Do you
need short throw? multiple input ports? Zoom
lens?
short throw projectors are designed to
produce larger projected images at a close
distance. It allows you to project image
onto a screen at less than 2 feet away.
short throw projector is perfect for
application where distant to screen must be
minimized.
