Business projectors have become smaller, lighter, and much more affordable over the years. An $8000 projector in 2001 is now cost less than $3000. This is mainly due to DLP technology, created by Texas Instruments.

DLP business projectors rely on a single chip, rather than the three panels of LCD system. This allow manufacturer to build a projector as small as 2 pounds in weight.

New projectors are also built with "ease of use" in mind. A notebook PC is normally required in order to do presentation on a projector. This is no longer the case. Some projectors now come with a USB port that accept USB Flash drive, or memory card reader that accept SD memory card. You can simply copy your presentation files to a USB Flash Drive or memory card and plug it into these new projector for presentation without a PC. Look cool.

Compact and light weight projectors under 4 lbs are perfect for frequent travelers. They are lighter than most mainstream notebook PC, but may lack some advance features found on larger and heavier projectors.
