Acronis Backup & Recovery Advanced Server Edition

Is server downtime costing you thousands of dollars or more per hour? Can yoiu afford system downtime?

Based on Acronis’ patented disk imaging and bare metal restore technologies, Acronis® Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server is the next generation of the Acronis True Image disaster recovery family for physical and virtual environments. It simplifies and automates backup and restore processes across Windows and Linux environments, and remotely monitors and manages geographically distributed servers and workstations. With Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server, the operating system, applications and all data can be recovered in minutes, instead of hours or days.

Engineered for enterprises of all sizes, Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server scales to thousands of machines. It provides organizations with advanced data backup and system recovery capabilities such as: data deduplication, enhanced security, operations dashboard, policy-based management, among others.

Organizations can leverage Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server’s functional power and exceptional ease of use to simplify their backup and recovery processes while improving their ability to meet challenging Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs). In addition, Acronis offers several options that can be used to further enhance the functionality of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10:

Acronis® Backup & Recovery 10 Deduplication option enhances the benefits of disk-to-disk server backup by reducing the amount of redundant data that is backed up, saving on storage costs and optimizing storage capacity

Additionally, with the Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Universal Restore option, administrators can quickly automate the recovery process, even when recovering to dissimilar hardware or virtual machines.

Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server works with both physical and virtual machines using an agent-based approach. For additional ways to backup and restore virtual hosts, Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server Virtual Edition offers a more comprehensive, agent-less and host based approach to server backup for both a host and multiple virtual machines.

Top Benefits

  • Minimize downtime and meet challenging RTOs

The entire hard drive contents can be fully recovered in minutes, instead of hours or days— including the operating system, applications and data.

The backup and recovery processes of all workstations and servers are carried out from a single location on the network — includes a centralized dashboard to provide an overview of the configured and running operations on all systems, enhancing control and decision making.

  • Storage and network savings through data deduplication

The Acronis® Backup & Recovery 10 Deduplication option provides affordable file- and block- level software deduplication functionality, helping organizations of all sizes to make a better use of their storage infrastructure and save costs.

  • Automate recovery with a simple, guided process

An intuitive interface makes it easy to install, quick to configure and deploy, and simple to use for both IT personnel and novices.

  • Free IT personnel from repetitive tasks

Grouping procedures enable policies and procedures to be implemented across a known range of systems, making it possible to carry out a mass recovery of many machines in minutes, rather than hours or days.

  • Fast and easy recovery

OS, applications and all data can be fully recovered in minutes, instead of hours or days.

  • Recover an entire system, single file or folder

Acronis image-based recoveries give you the granularity you need for any kind of recovery, putting you back in business in a hurry.

File-and block-level deduplication eliminates backup copies of the same data and delivers substantial storage cost savings.

  • Scalability

Support as many as thousands of machines, backing up to multiple storage nodes.

  • Monitoring

Dashboard provides an overview of all configured and running operations, highlighting any processes that require attention.

  • Advanced scheduling capabilities

Backups can be triggered based on preset events and conditions.

  • Advanced encryption technology ensures data security

Provides extra layers of security to ensure that the backup data is protected.

Backup options

  • Compression

Compress backups to optimize your storage space.

  • Excluding files during backup

Save storage space and time by excluding non-essential files and folders from backups.

Store backups into two different locations — backup to a local disk and a copy to a network share.

  • Automatic or manual splitting of backups

Split backups into volumes to fit media.

Recovery options

  • Acronis Startup Recovery Manager

If your system won’t boot properly, press F11 during the system startup to start Acronis Backup & Recovery 10.

  • Bare-metal restore

Restore your server from scratch in the event of a hard disk failure — restore an exact copy of your computer on a new hard drive.

  • Remote restore

Perform remote restores of your networked machines.

  • Pre/post commands

Define pre/post backup and data capture commands to integrate Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 with other applications or to temporarily stop some.

  • Event-based backup

Create backups triggered by various conditions — a user logs on, a computer shuts down, or others.

  • Conditions for backup

Configure backup operations to wait until specified conditions are met like a pre-defined time interval or a user logs off.

  • Customizable backup scheme

Configure specific events and conditions for each task.

Centralized management

  • Grouping machines into static or dynamic groups

Put machines into nested groups, manually or by other criteria such as OS, IP range, or membership in an Active Directory.

  • Policy-based management

Apply backup policies to a machine or a group of machines.

  • Wake-on-LAN support

If a machine is off when a backup is scheduled to start, the machine can be powered on automatically with Wake-on-LAN functionality.

  • Distributing backups within time interval

Avoid overloading networks by distributing backup activities within an allowed time window. Automatically shift task start times on each machine.

Reporting and monitoring

  • Centralized dashboard

Operational overview of all configured machines on a single screen.

All port numbers used may be changed.

A network server, even just a desktop PC can cost your company thousands of dollars per hour in downtime, and potentially a lot more. That's why choosing the right backup and disaster recovery would reduce system downtime to a minimum, and provide the best possible return on investment.

Acronis Backup and Recovery Advanced Server really frees up everyone's time because backups are performed even when the system is live so nobody really knows.

Acronis users can choose to have the backup files stored in the Acronis Secure Zone, a special hidden partition in the same hard disk. Backup can also store in a variety of storage media including options like external USB hard disks, additional internal hard disk, CDs and DVDs. Overall, I'd say Acronis True Image is the cost effective BMR (bare metal restore) solution for Windows platform.

Acronis Backup and Recovery enables you to restore systems in minutes, not hours or days.

An entire system can be restored from an image that includes everything the system need to run: the operating system, applications, databases, and configurations. No reinstallation or reconfiguration is required.

Complete system restoration can be performed to an existing system or to a new system with different hardware or to virtual machines using the new Acronis Universal Restore feature. With the new Acronis Snap Restore feature, users can boot from an image and access a system during restore, further decreasing downtime.

With the scheduling capability in Acronis Backup and Recovery, you can simply create backup tasks, tailored by group, at certain times or at certain events, automating backups. To ensure that backups have occurred, you can request notifications of results via email, pop-up or SNMP.

You can also view Acronis events in your existing Acronis Windows Event Log. The product also supports the creation of custom commands before and after backups. For example, users can automatically run anti-virus products before an image is created and verify the validity of backups after they have been created.

Online protection is provided for mission critical applications such as Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle with support for VSS. Using VSS you can backup databases during business hours as they are not required to be taken offline to create valid backups.
