 New Generation of server,
IBM System X Server
The IBM System X3500/3550 is the first in a series of major improvements to IBM’s Intel Server family. It’s also the first server equipped with Intel’s long-awaited Dual Core Xeon processor.

Gone are the old  eServer and xSeries. They are replaced by the new System X, with the model number indicating what hardware each model possesses.

The new X-server family supports fully buffered DIMM (FB-DIMM) memory, which improves performance by using advanced memory buffers, serial data paths and improved error detection.

Hot-swap components include redundant power supply, cooling fan, and hard drives all help keep your business humming at lower support costs.
 
To allow unobstructed airflow through the chassis, a small drive cage is fitted to the left, and came with four hot-swap bays using the new generation of high-density 2.5in SAS drives. Alternatively, you can go for a pair of 3.5in hot-swap SAS or SATA drives, or two cold-swap SATA drives.

The integrated controller supports RAID 0, 1, and 10. Optional controller is available in you require RAID 5.
