Why NAS (Network Attached Storage)?
    - Separate storage from application server improves network performance and data access speed.
    - Adding large storage capacity to existing network easily and quickly, without shutting down files server.
    - NAS can also be served as Backup and Storage Server for fast backup and recovery to reduce downtime.
    - Reduce the amount of time it takes to manage and allocate disk space.
    - Enable the sharing of storage resources between workstations running different operating systems.
    - Give you the freedom to manage your solution from any place at any time with a standard Web browser.
Adaptec Snap Server 650 Photograph Adaptec Snap Server 650  changes the way “mid-range” storage is defined with performance that, until now, has only been available in much larger, much more expensive solutions. Built on dual-core 64-bit AMD Opteron architecture, it integrates 2GB of memory for extremely fast throughput.  With easy installation and operation, scalability to 64.2TB, an integrated suite of data protection software, and end-to-end Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) performance and reliability, the Snap Server 650 is an ideal choice for mission-critical as well as archival storage for small and medium business.

Disk mirroring and other RAID levels can be easily configured with Snap Server 650, along with hot sparing and instant capacity expansion (ICE) allowing RAID volumes to be dynamically re-sized as disks are added. And that's done by connecting additional Adaptec SANbloc S50 JBOD storage arrays to the server, each of which can accommodate another 12 disks. Up to seven of these units can be added, to support a staggering 64.2TB altogether.

A dedicated purpose NAS does not have to be expensive. Thecus N4100 allows you to add hard drive as your business grows. You could add hard drives one by one when the existing capacity is run out. For example, you could place two hard disks at N4100 at first because of budget concern. Later on, when the storage space is not sufficient, you add another two. When a single Terabyte N4100 is too small to accommodate your data, you add another N4100 to the existing network, and then you gain one more Terabyte. Since N4100 is network based, it grants you unlimited scalability. Using Thecus N4100 as your data server is the smartest way to minimize IT management and secure your precious asset.
